Hard Rain

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
The Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin is currently showing a photographic exhibition called Hard Rain

It's based on the Bob Dylan song A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, with photographs to accomplish each line
The project has a website which includes some sample images at http://www.hardrainproject.com/sample_pages.htm

It's on display until the end of August but I would recommend going to see it soon cause you will wonder why you didn't go even sooner

For those in different countries have a look-see here:
http://www.hardrainproject.com/exhibition_venues.htm

Even if you look at the site and decide not to go please forward it on to anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks

Thank Jesus / Buddha / Allah / whoever-is-on-shift-today for bookmarks, they reminded me I had this

In a general update;
Got exam results, passed 5 out of 6 so not too bad. Have Wave Optics to repeat in august but startin to look back over notes already.
For this semester we have an industrial placement so I is doing astronomy research, get a trip to an Italian observatory out of it so won't complain

Otherwise things have been kinda up and down, had a thing going with a girl in college for a while but it didn't work out too well. At the minute happily single and don't think that'll change any time soon, plannin on spending some time on myself. I figure I deserve it :)

Otherwise its just business as normal, still tryin to find a job but as soon as you say you can only work weekends most jobs don't wanna know. Occasional trips to the pub, catchin up with friends I haven't seen in ages so things could be a lot worse. Have an archery competition in UCD on saturday so what better way to spend a day then firing arrows near a load of egotistical muppets? Just hope I don't give into temptation....

10th December 2007

I'm in such a christmassy mood this year, its great! Watched miracle on 34th street last weekend, gonna put on muppet christmas carol soon. Been wandering around all day singing christmas tunes and not wanting to do any work at all.

The one bad thing so far has been the archery xmas night out. The night itself wasn't the bad thing, the hangover the following day was. For some reason we played "I never" and i ended up absolutely trashed. The worst part is i can still remember some of the things Ashley was the only one drinking to, what a disturbing boy
A surreal night were we all learned more about each other, in some cases a bit more than we wanted to

In labs at the minute but decided to go get a coffee beforehand, was walking up to the counter when the guy behind the counter sees me. He just holds up the largest cup, I nod and by the time I reach the counter its already full of steaming hot coffee wake-up-juice

I think the addiction becomes clear when I don't even have to say "the usual" at this stage, but its a good feeling, mostly cause I'm starting to wake up now

Technology....

....whats it ever done for me? (He types on the computer)

Fuckin' programming is driving me nuts! I hate IDL with a passion, its almost but not quite as bad as C++ so it could be worse but there's nothin quite as annoyin as a program that works fine one time and then refuses to do anything 5 seconds later. At this rate Bill Gates will be giving me a job by the end of the week. </rant>

In other news....college ain't going too bad otherwise, my 5pm lecture this evenin has been cancelled so i have a nice early finish in just over an hour. Wrappin up computer labs now and think i'll try fit in a pint in the next 10 mins, its badly needed

Continuing the theme of changes this weekend I got down to work this morning to find that I don't have a job. Dang it
i don't really mind losing the job, it was crap anyway. I think I'll miss the money though.
There's a lot of places around looking for temp staff for xmas, that should do for now at least

General update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
To them as I haven't spoken to in a while:

Its amazing how much work is involved in a full-time year in college.....almost as amazing as how easy it is to forget just how much it is after a part-time year. Working my way through it though, it'll be fine once i get to christmas. Don't have lectures afterward, just have to prepare an astronomy report, go on a field trip to italy, record whatever data is needed and give a presentation on it to pretty much the entire physics faculty in uni and the director of ireland's main observatory. So no pressure then :)

In other news, after a relationship spanning about 18 months I find myself single again (Don't get your hopes up [info]bunnyowen, we're still in different countries). Things had been a little strained for a while but it got that little bit too much to deal with today so I decided to put my own mental health first. Either way, I plan to enjoy being single for a while, I kinda miss it

Anyone in Dublin who doesn't know, there's a Rocky Horror Picture Show in the Sugar Club next Friday (the 26th). Usual story, 8pm start and prize for best costume. Anyone not in Dublin, try make it over anyway :)

That is all

6th October 2007

Opened my email today to find an email entitled "Simon Reynolds has added you as a friend on Facebook"
Thought this was quite strange since thats me but i logged in anyway only to find that it was an Australian Simon Reynolds who seems to be collecting various Simon Reynold's from around the world. There's even a Facebook society. Its things like this that has me glad for the internet

So in conclusion, surrealness is a good thing and this beer-swilling (we have more in common than name judging from the photo) Aussie has managed to remind me of that. All while having a bitchin name! :D

I almost like my job again, why?
Because today I picked up an absolutely honking barbeque (the type you can fit a small pig on) for the princely sum of €30, which the benefit of anyone from engelond would be somewhere in the region of £18
*smug*

7th June 2007

An entry from the Queedom of Anjiiland:
Woo, finally saw [info]rudefuckindoll  again for the first time in a year! Its been absolutely great so far, heading to download later this evenin. Just gona be gettin last minute shopping and such done in Brum this afternoon while she gets other stuff done, then pubbage for a while where I shall undoubtedly be introduced to many more people. Life is good
Its gonna be such a good weekend, oh the music that shall  be heard, the many forms of alcohol that shall be consumed. We're ok for food for today and probably tomorrow too, in typical parental fashion[info]rudefuckindoll's mother has rummaged through presses and thrown stuff at us. She even tried to give us a pack of mince pies which was absolutely hilarious

Going through the airport yesterday I got stopped for a "random" security check, I don't think I have a good look for international travel so when he asked me to stop for a random check I stopped exactly where I was and caused quite a queue at the metal detector, that'll learn him :)

I've also decided to, at some stage during my visit, confuse the bejesus out of a policeman by going up and asking him a load of questions as gaeilge (in irish). Of course with my luck I'll end up picking one who can actually speak irish. That'd prob make it even better actually

Well, until after Download (if i survive it) so long suckers
